Counting Birds For Science In Manitouwadge, Ontario

Ontario FeederWatch cam host Tammie Hache keeps the birds coming to her backyard all winter long! Not only is Tammie a great host to our feathered friends, she's also helped count feeder birds for science for the past 16 years as a participant in Project FeederWatch. Immature Bald Eagle Visits Savannah Nest On Windy Afternoon

Who do we have here? An immature Bald Eagle visited the Savannah Osprey nest for about 30 minutes while surveying the surrounding area. Immature Bald Eagles have mostly dark heads and tails, and their brown wings and bodies are mottled with white in varying amounts. Young birds attain adult plumage, complete with the distinctive white head, in about five years.

Female Bermuda Petrels Returns, Vocalizations And Preening Ensue

The female Bermuda Petrel returned to the burrow in the late night hours of January 21 after a week of foraging over the Atlantic Ocean. Watch her arrival spark some loud vocalizations and a long session of tender allopreening. Both birds have remained cuddled up in the burrow, but the male will eventually leave the incubation duties to his mate as he heads out to sea to refuel.
