Courting Albatross Dance Features New Band Numbers

During a rather energetic courtship dance session viewers noticed some new leg band colors and letter/ number combinations: right leg blue/ purple band with white lettering V017 and left leg yellow band with black lettering X658. Then some more familiar black bands with white lettering K779 and K605. Bands starting with K, KP, or A, black or blue with white lettering, were banded on Kauai. A or P bands were banded on the west of the island and are usually white with black letters. O bands are from Oahu and are purple with white lettering. Occasionally we may see a yellow-banded visitor. These bands are from the early days of banding in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Be sure to let us know if you see any unusual colors on bands!
